Quick Tip #1

This scene is mostly made up of a small selection of hand-painted elements duplicated over and over again to create depth. Animated Tree and Grass Assets from our store were added and modified with a custom texture and the Roughen Edges filter. Keeping the layers organized by depth and eliminating visual glitches, caused by After Effect's infamous depth sorting errors, was easy with Z-fighter.

Quick Tip #2

Z-Fighter includes a tool to dynamicaly adjust layer opacity based on its distance from the camera. The result makes for great fog or atmosphere but can also be linked to multiple property values to create a wide range of distance based effects. In this example the cloud layers are fading off while the ground layers are darkening as they get closer to the camera.

Quick Tip #3

The Orient to Camera tool will dynamically add rotation to the layers so they face the camera. By alt-clicking the tool you can lock the value at your desired position so the layers remain static. This is great for spherical spaces, bushes, trees and clouds. We have also added a billboard mode to lock layers to the cameras z-axis and excludes X/Z rotation.
