Inspiration

Louis Meilleur Roy creator of "It Might Work" says, "for this 90’s rocket car illustration, I leaned on my old friend Thomas Cole from the Hudson River School to give a vintage romantic vibe to the whole composition. Since paintings are my primary influences when doing an illustration, I like going through different movements and artists to steal some aspects of their style—compositions, colours and drawing—to infuse my work with enough aesthetic background in order to facilitate the audience’s response to the piece. Needless to say, e→d films’ cloud, rock and grass brushes were central to the realization of this image."

Quick Tip #1

If you want to create a really quick, foggy looking grass land; try using one of the Grass Patch 360 brushes and activate "Transfer" in the Brush Properties panel and enable "Pen Pressure" to control the opacity and experiment with pressing soft to hard as you paint.

Quick Tip #2

Our "Stamp" brushes use the TILT feature of tablet pens to rotate the brush tip. This allows you to place the brush mark very deliberately on the canvas. The TILT feature is not supported in all pen tablet models, so if the stamps don't rotate when you tilt your pen try setting the brush angle to another "Control" or modify it manually in the "Brush Tip Shape" section of the brush properties panel.
