Dear friends,
Unlike the beginning of all epic stories, the start of E.D. FILMS wasn’t one of an artist and their muse. Instead, our teenaged co-founder Daniel Gies’ mind was elsewhere: Everyone Dies Films. A rather grim approach to a glossy world, the intention was set to go deeper and explore the world of animation with truth, curiosity and profundity. Now abbreviated, this original name of our company became somewhat of an enigma.
“Emily and Dan Films?”, many asked, wondering if the names of the co-founders were indeed the orgins of the company name. In the meantime, our studio life continued to thrive, allowing us to serve our communities of makers, animation buffs, and collaborators. From the smoothest curve to the sharpest edge, the group of talented artists we’ve drawn together have sought to tell stories from our past and our untold future. Throughout the years, the ethos of our work reflected just that, walking the thin line between fantasy and reality. And now, as we enter this new era, we have decidedly returned to our roots.
The mystery is history and we’re here to resuscitate the lungs of E.D. Films:
