VISUAL DEVELOPMENT
Award winning filmmaker and technical artist David BK grew up in a family of psychiatrists. This project emerges from his inner world and rich artistic talents.

PIPELINE DEVELOPMENT
The project began as a 2D illustrated film with several key shots being done in 3D. Dynamic lighting, changing seasons and elaborate camera moves were integral to the story so we chose to use the Unreal Game Engine and go full 3D.

ANIMATION TOOLS
The Unreal Game Engine is designed to simulate the behavior of real light and natural materials. Since our goal was to create an immersive and evolving illustrated world we had to build several artist friendly shaders and materials.

By creating building the project in the Unreal Game Engine we were able to impliment a responsive pipeline that allowed us to work intimately with the films director and art director in real time to refine the visual language of the film.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Actively pursuing a wider demographic including queer, female and non-binary audiences in the VR space, we took great care to be inclusive during playtesting so that many forms and ways of being were incorporated into the decision-making process and in user experience.
